Why do so-called “responsible” gun owners who fear “big government” — like Richard Carter — so often wind up proving we really do need big government after all?
On Saturday around noon,
Carter waged his own special war on Christmas when he took two pot
shots at his neighbor, Don Lesser, while Lesser was outside hanging his
Christmas lights. Luckily, Lesser’s only injury is a cut lip from a
ricocheting bullet.
Police
came and called in a SWAT team, which finally got Carter to give
himself up after a three-hour standoff. And of course Carter’s Munhall,
PA home, located just outside of Pittsburgh, was jam-packed with weapons
and ammunition.
Munhall Police, the SWAT team and negotiators were brought in to get Carter to surrender. Police say Carter had more than two dozen firearms and thousands of rounds of ammo inside of his house.
As
police led Carter into the squad car, he explained that he’d had an
ongoing conflict with Lesser, though he didn’t indicate what caused
their disagreements.
“Personal reasons, problems… uh, a lot of people know about this. I’ve been fighting this for two years.”
Neighbors
told police Carter was “paranoid” about big government and had even
posted signs outside of his home in the past. But as always seems to
happen in these cases, they still think he’s a great guy! These fans
include Kevin Williams, who told reporters:
“I don’t think he planned to do this. I would never think Rich is that way because he was a volunteer firefighter, a good man, always a good guy.”
Do
“good guys” hate our country’s government, stockpile weapons, and shoot
their neighbors? When Bill Hartnett, a long-time friend, got wind of
the situation, he urged Carter to surrender:
“I’ve known him all my life. When I heard what was going on, I called him up, asked him what he was doing and told him, ‘You gotta come out Rich. You gotta give up on this.’”
Munhall Police Chief Patrick Campbell adds this isn’t the first time Carter’s sanity has been questioned:
“He [Carter] has some mental health issues that were aware of. I’ve spoken to him at length on a few different occasions.”
Carter is now in jail and has been charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault and reckless endangerment.

ISIS
terrorists were behind an attempted hijacking of an Egyptian missile
boat in the Mediterranean last month, and planned to strike Israeli
maritime targets, Ch. 2 News said Monday.
The
craft was to be used to attack Israeli vessels and offshore gas
drilling rigs, located further up the coast, according to the report.
Fears
of exactly such an attack have prompted Israel’s Defense Ministry and
navy to deploy new seacraft and other resources, including new patrol
boats and frigates, drones and anti-missile systems, to protect against
such seaborne attacks against drilling platforms in its 36 trillion
cu.-ft. Tamar and Leviathan gas fields, worth an estimated $60 billion.
In
the first-ever such attack against Egyptian forces, the military ship
came under fire by four smaller craft on Nov. 12, while it was in the
midst of what the Al Ahram
daily called “a combat exercise” in the Mediterranean near the Suez
Canal, some 40 nautical miles north of the port of Damietta.
According
to the Israeli account, the terrorists even managed to put one of their
own on the bridge of the missile boat, after “staging an accident” at
sea with the naval craft.
After
commandeering the craft as it exited the northern end of the Canal, the
Egyptian fleet understood that something was amiss when the missile
boat did not respond to requests to identify itself. Apparently, at one
point, the hijackers used the radio system, giving away their identity.
Once
the Egyptian forces realized that the ship had been hijacked, several
other vessels entered the chase after the abducted missile boat. After
an exchange of fire between the parties, the ship was hit and
“neutralized,” according to the Israeli account.
Eight
sailors are still missing at sea, and five naval personnel were
hospitalized in the bold raid, in which military forces clashed with and
destroyed four boats used by the assailants and arrested 32 suspects.

An Arab taxi driver was lightly hurt after being attacked with pepper spray in central Jerusalem on Monday.
The
driver, Mohammed Shalayla, a resident of the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood
of East Jerusalem, said he stopped on King George Street to pick up a
passenger, when a Jewish man in his 40s shouted, "Don't take that cab –
the driver is Arab."
He
said he responded that he wouldn’t drive such an "extremist" passenger,
and that the man then pepper-sprayed him in the face through the
window. The spray hurt his eyes, ears and face.
Magen David Adom first responders took the victim to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem for treatment.
Shalayla
said that, despite a complaint filed with police, no one had questioned
him about the incident even an hour and a half later. Jerusalem police
confirmed the details of the incident, and said they had begun a search
for the attacker.
Earlier
this month, four girls from the West Bank settlement of Yitzhar were
arrested in Jerusalem on suspicion of spraying Arabs in Jerusalem with
pepper spray.
In
the first incident, a Palestinian taxi driver reported that he had been
attacked on King George Street by four girls, who fled on foot.
Shortly after, another Palestinian reported a similar attack.
Police apprehended the four in the vicinity of the second attack, finding two canisters of pepper spray in their possession.

France vote on Palestine 'lost cause' for Israel supporters
French parliament to vote Tuesday on resolution urging French government to recognize the state of Palestine as step to reach agreement to end conflict.

supporters in the French parliament said on Monday that the fight
against legislation that would put pressure on the French government to
recognize a Palestinian state is a lost cause. The vote on the issue is
set to take place on Tuesday.
“The French parliament is without a doubt anti-Zionist,” member of French parliament Meyer Habib told Ynet.

“Its members hide behind this concept, but it is clear to everyone that there is anti-Semitism here,” Habib continued.
“I tried to explain to them that it only strengthens terrorism, but
they do not understand,” said Habib, who was elected to the National
Assembly last year, the lower house of the French Parliament.
Habib previously served as the chairman of the umbrella organization of Jewish organizations in France.
“Just last summer there was a big rally supporting Hamas in Paris,
where (people) chanted “Death to the Jews,” and parliament members also
participated. I spoke with the prime minister face-to-face, and he
really understands the situation, but he cannot convince the
parliament,” said Habib.
Last
Friday, the MPs proposed a resolution urging the French government “to
recognize the State of Palestine as a step to reach an agreement that
would end the conflict.”
The vote on the resolution will take place on Tuesday, and according to Habib, the results are already known in advance.
“Unfortunately there is almost no chance to convince the parliament.
The communist, socialist and environmentalist majority will vote in
favor of the recognition, because they think recognizing Palestine will
solve everything, the whole conflict,” Habib said.
“The parliament members do not understand the situation, they are
blind,” said Habib, who splits his time between Paris and Jerusalem.
“They do not understand that Islamic terror reaches the entire world,
also France. They do not want to see the truth,” Habib added.
Habib
warned about the implications of support for a Palestinian state: "It
would make France irrelevant in the Middle East. France is essentially
abandoning the only democracy in the Middle East that protects human
rights, and (instead) is backing a terrorist organization. (The move
will have) implications for the relations between the countries."
On Friday,
France said it was working with partners on a "final" diplomatic push
to overcome the impasse between Israelis and Palestinians, which
includes setting a two-year timeframe to end the conflict through a
UN-backed resolution.
"If
this final effort to reach a negotiated solution fails, then France
will have to do what it takes by recognizing without delay the
Palestinian state," Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius told the French
parliament.
Lawmakers
are set to hold a symbolic parliamentary vote on December 2 on whether
the French government should recognize Palestine as a state, a move that
Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has called a "grave mistake".
The vote has raised domestic political pressure for the government to be more active on the issue.
Russia dispatches new humanitarian aid convoy to eastern Ukraine

On Sunday, more than 1,200 metric tons of supplies, including construction materials, food and medicines, crossed the border into eastern Ukraine.
The Russian Emergency Situations Ministry announced that a convoy of 40 trucks has delivered the supplies to the flashpoint city of Lugansk, while 60 trucks were unloaded in the Makiivka suburb of Donetsk.
Yuriy Pokintelitsa, the mayor of Makiivka, said the supplies would be prioritized for those who are most in need, such as hospital patients, school children and the poor.
He emphasized that more humanitarian aid is needed in the volatile region.
"All that we have received is about three to five percent of what the [Donetsk] republic needs. We really need baby food, medicine and of course food products," Pokintelitsa added.
This is the eighth relief aid convoy that Russia has dispatched to the violence-scarred eastern regions of Ukraine since August. Oleg Voronov, a representative of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry, has said Moscow would soon dispatch new aid.
The humanitarian crisis is deteriorating in eastern Ukraine as the central government in Kiev has suspended funding and services there.
Ukraine's mainly Russian-speaking regions in the east have witnessed deadly clashes between pro-Russia forces and the Ukrainian army since Kiev launched military operations to silence the pro-Moscow protests in mid-April.
According to the latest figures released by the United Nations, more than 4,300 people have been killed in the fighting. In addition, nearly a million people have been forced to flee their homes.
Kiev and its Western allies accuse Russia of having a hand in the chaotic situation in eastern Ukraine. However, the Kremlin has repeatedly denied the allegation as baseless.

Feds tell police to stop “domestic terrorist” Oath Keepers providing free security

Police in Ferguson, Missouri, have been pressured by the federal government to stop members of Oath Keepers from guarding local homes and businesses targeted by arsonists.
Oath Keepers, an organization consisting of former and current military, police and first responders, dispatched several members to Ferguson the day after the Grand Jury announcement to provide free security to those in need.
Almost immediately after receiving praise in a local paper for protecting vulnerable residents, Oath Keepers standing watch on top of a locally-owned bakery witnessed a three-man sniper team exiting a silver Suburban on the ground below.
The three men were then seen setting up sniper hides in a nearby building before aiming their rifles directly at the group. Across the street, on top of the fire hall, a seperate sniper team began setting up as well.
A Missouri Oath Keeper named Sam Andrews, who spoke briefly with Infowars, immediately called Unified Command to find out why snipers had taken up an aggressive position against them.
According to Andrews, local police, a large portion of which have been supportive of the Oath Keepers, were completely unaware of the feds movements.
Shortly after, a St. Louis County police officer appeared on scene and began telling Andrews that business owners wanted them off their roofs.
After calling the store owners, Andrews and his team quickly confirmed that no such request was ever made. That is when the officer admitted that his chief was being pressured by the feds to keep Oath Keepers from protecting buildings.
Further reports revealed that the feds had told police earlier that day that Oath Keepers were "domestic terrorists," an unsurprising claim given the federal government's baseless targeting of the group.
The owner of a Chinese restaurant receiving free protection was reportedly confronted by federal agents also and told to kick the Oath Keepers out.
Failing to remove the businesses' and homes' much needed protection, other officers began telling Andrews that his group was in violation of state law. Police claimed the group needed to posses security licenses, despite the fact that the law only applies to paid security, not volunteers.
"We're volunteers. We read the statute. We had three attorneys read the statute," Andrews told Infowars.
Andrews began speaking with other volunteers not affiliated with the Oath Keepers, including a group of young Ferguson residents protecting a local gas station, and learned that none had been approached or told to obtain licenses by police.
Stewart Rhodes, founder and president of Oath Keepers, told Infowars that the American people are being presented with a false choice by those running the show in Ferguson.
"They want to create a false paradigm... They are presenting a false choice between lawlessness, looting, arson, assault, murder on the one side, unrestrained, or a hyper-militarized police state on the other," Rhodes said. "They are failing to do the intelligent thing and protect businesses without trampling on rights."
Rhodes' remarks cause even more concern in light of comments made by Missouri Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder, who accused President Obama of ordering a National Guard stand down as Ferguson businesses burned to the ground last week.
Ferguson Mayor James Knowles also stated that his request for National Guard help was turned down by Governor Jay Nixon, a Democrat ally of the President.
Andrews and the other volunteers, who even spent Thanksgiving pouring water on rooftops in case arsonists and rioters returned, are now shifting tactics in order to continue protecting life, liberty and property in Ferguson.

Germans invent revolutionary elevator, going up and sideways

An elevator every 30 seconds will be a feature of future skyscrapers, promises German tech giant ThyssenKrupp. They have unveiled technology that allows more than one car in a single shaft and the lifts can go sideways as well as up and down.
The company says its invention will revolutionize modern architecture, because central blocks of elevator shafts, a necessary element of today's buildings, will no longer put constraints on design. Residents will enjoy reduced waiting times and owners will get smaller elevator footprints, freeing up space for apartments, offices and other facilities.
Key to the promised breakthrough is a linear motor, which ThyssenKrupp adapted from the Transrapid magnetic levitation train it built for Shanghai in collaboration with Siemens. Each car would need only one motor for both horizontal and vertical movement, the company said.
The cars will move in a looped path much as cars in a Ferris wheel do, which allows for greater passenger traffic and reduces waiting time to as low as 15 to 30 seconds. But each car will be able to stop independently to allow passengers to enter and exit safely, unlike paternoster lifts, popular in the first half of 20th century. Paternosters actually never stopped and passengers had to hop on and off.
ThyssenKrupp says replacing cable drives with maglev technology and the use of lighter carbon materials for cars would require smaller shafts. Combined with a large number of cabins, it would occupy up to fifty percent less space than current systems, depending on height.
The German company is aiming high with the technology, saying the ideal height for applying it would start at 300 meters. ThyssenKrupp says the option for horizontal movement would make their elevators useful in shorter, broader buildings.
The company hails its technology called Multi as the greatest innovation in the field since Elisha Otis and his demonstration of emergency breaks in 1854. The first building to use a prototype will be a 240-meter tower now being built in Rottweil in Germany. The public will be able to try the system in 2016, the company says.
Multi faces competition from Japanese producer Hitachi, which is currently developing an upgraded version of the old paternoster system. The Hitachi system is a traditional cable-driven elevator, with cars that move up and down in pairs in two adjacent shafts.
The German giant is also working on adopting maglev train motors to other applications. Earlier this year it revealed its speed passenger walkways. Every pallet on it is expandable, has its own motor and moves slower at places where passengers board and leave the walkway, but accelerates to 7 kilometers per hour in between. ThyssenKrupp is targeting walkways in airports and short-range transit system in urban areas.

Barry…we need to talk about your job performance. As you might recall,
when you were summoned by the Order of Illuminati Communist Nazis, it
was with the understanding that you (as a Kenyan Muslim) would disarm
and impoverish the holiest and whitest parts of America, before marching
them past the Death Panels, and into the gas chambers. After installing
yourself as Dictator for Life, you were to crucify the Christians,
reveal yourself as the Antichrist, and hand the world over to your
Satanic Jewish overlords. It was all so simple. But, after six years…none of that has happened. In fact, the country is in much better shape than it was when we installed you as president. Let’s go over your list of failures to The Order.
1) More Job Growth and Investment than Ronald Reagan
Back
in 1980, the Christians of the world united behind a powerful leader
with an amazing vision for the future: Simply sell the United States to
the highest bidders, and let everyone live like fat hogs for the next 15
to 20 years. And Reaganomics worked…sort of. Long after he left office,
Reagan’s Sale of America left a legacy of excess capital laying around.
At least, till it ran out. But during his term, Reagan did America more
good than any other president.
Well, any other president until fairly recently.
The first graph below compares Reagan (The Great Job Creator’s)
unemployment record for the first 67 months with Obama’s. The second
compares the S&P stock growth for the first 69 months; bearing in
mind that both presidents entered office in the midst of a massive
recession:
Looks
like The Socialist Anticapitalist needs to brush up on his literature
and job description. Because, from what we’re seeing here, he has been at least as
good as Reagan for the economy. In fact, we’ve now had 63 straight
months of job expansion, including 54 consecutive weeks of private sector growth.
In fact, Obama’s administration has created more jobs in five years than Bush managed in all eight.
Worst. Socialist. EVER.
2) The Federal Budget Deficit has Shrunk by 2/3s since 2009
Obama
came into office with a $1.4 trillion deficit, due largely to the high
unemployment figures Bush left him with. Since people have gone back to work, more income taxes have been coming in — that’s raised the revenue for the givernment, shrinking the deficit spending.
Without cutting a thing, we might add.
This year’s deficit is predicted to be $500 billion — the lowest it’s been since Bush cut everything in 2007.
3) Our Dependence on Foreign Oil is at a Record Low Due to Domestic Oil Production and Higher Fuel Efficiency Standards
Is
Barry the arch-nemesis of domestic oil production? Looks like a fan of
drilling holes to us. True, the drive to decrease oil imports began
under Bush; which must have hurt, given his family’s close friendship
with Saudi Arabian royalty, and Bin Laden’s family specifically. Guess
Barry’s one to harbor a grudge, though, because he certainly doesn’t
seem to have done much to stop the downward crash of oil importation. Or
the rapid increase in production.
4) Spending Increases and Taxes Are Lower Than Anytime in the Last 50 Years
Of
course, Tea Partiers are going to take credit for this, citing it as
the fruits of thier obstructionism. That isn’t exactly the case, but
let’s look at the relevant facts:
- Spending has only gone up 1.4 percent under Obama, the lowest spending has increased since Eisenhower — aka “The Last Actual Republican.” Spending increased 8.1 percent under Bush, and 8.7 percent under Reagan.
- Taxes are lower than they’ve been in the last 50 years for 95 percent of Americans. Taxes have only increased on those making $400,000 a year or more, the richest 2 percent of the country.
- For the other 95 percent, taxes have actually gone down.
Yes,
Tea Partiers are certain to claim victory here, but that’s a far cry
from reality. Obama himself signed in tax cuts for 95 percent in his
stimulus package following the Bush Recession. But that hasn’t kept the
Taxed Enough already crowd from thinking their taxes had gone up.
As
to the spending, that’s mostly a result of getting out of Bush’s War in
Afghanistan. The military is an expensive machine to run; but its’
every Republican’s favorite.
5) War is Down…and Foreign Terrorist Attacks on American Soil Are at Zero
The
Commander-in-Chief, as of right now, has fewer troops deployed in war
zones than at any point since the Afghan Invasion began in earnest in
2004. And yet, somehow, there hasn’t been a single foreign terrorist on
American soil since Obama was elected. That’s about as far from what
Dick Cheney predicted as imaginable, should we be unwise enough to put a
soft, limp-wristed Democrat in office.
6)
The ACA has Added Years to the Life of Medicare, Insured 7 Million
People so Far, and Precipitated the Lowest Rise in Healthcare Costs
Since 1960
Right
now, somewhere between 7 and 10 million Americans who didn’t have
health insurance before have it now. Rates haven’t gone up across the
board as predicted either, primarily because healthcare costs are now rising slower than they have at any point since 1960.
Indeed
— seems strange things happen when doctors and hospitals get paid for
their services, instead of passing the cost of non-payers along to
others. And since more people now have insurance, they’ve got more
paying customers than ever before.
That’s
had a decided impact on not just the cost of insurance, but the
lifespan of a program that was projected to die in 2016: Medicare.
Before the ACA, Medicare was on the verge of running out of money, and
major cuts were on the horizon. But because the increase in healthcare
costs have dropped, Medicare is now projected to live till at least 2030
with no cuts or changes whatsoever.
Which means you have to ask…
Were the Conservatives who fought this ignorant, incompetent or simply lying? Perhaps to themselves, if nothing else.
7) The Obama Administration Has Deported More Illegal Immigrants than Any Other in History…Including Bush
Some
will say this is just a consequence of more illegals coming in, so the
proportion of those going out rises in accordance. And that might be
partly true; but there’s still no doubt that Obama’s administration has
issued more one-way tickets to Central American countries than any other
in history.
So,
Mister Soetoro…it appears you haven’t been doing your job as the
world’s most powerful Nazi Communist Anti-Capitalist Deathmonger. And
when was the last time you even went to a mosque?
From this list alone, we can see that in six years you have
- done a better job of running the economy than Reagan
- done a better job of protecting America than Bush
- saved more money and spent less than anyone since Eisenhower
- lowered taxes on all but the wealthiest 5 percent
- gotten millions of people much-needed healthcare
- seen a drastic reduction in foreign oil imports
- reduced the growth in healthcare costs to 1960 levels (after they dramatically spiked under Bush)
- all but restored our economy, undoing at least in part the damage done by your predecessor
And,
for all that, Barry Soetoro, we of the Unholy Order of Illuminati Nazi
Communists hereby indemnify you for gross failure in job performance. We
expect your resignation on our evil, black desks no later than 2016.
