A 14-year-old who had been bullied for years committed suicide outside his home, near Buffalo, NY.
Though Jamey Rodemeyer recorded an It Gets Better video and his parents say they worked with his school to stop the bullying, he was still being harassed regularly. His parents say that he was questioning his sexuality.
“I always say how bullied I am, but no one listens,” he wrote Sept. 9, according to Buffalo News. “What do I have to do so people will listen to me?”
Buffalo News said that comments on a social media account for Rodemeyer included one that said, “I wouldn’t care if you died. No one would. So just do it It would make everyone WAY more happier!” and another that said “JAMIE IS STUPID, GAY, FAT AND UGLY. HE MUST DIE!”
The New Civil Rights Movement has Rodemeyer’s It Gets Better video.
