Watch John Boehner Throw the Tea Party Under the Bus, Nothing is ‘Conservative Enough’ for Them
by Simone Sanner
John Boehner appeared as a guest on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno
to do a bit of PR damage control for the GOP over last year's
government shutdown without actually accepting any responsibility for
the shutdown, and to discuss conservatives' desires to be governed by
"the Gestapo."
According
to Boehner, nothing is "conservative enough" for the Tea Party crowd.
He said, "There’s nothing I could do that was ever conservative enough
for them.”
Boehner laid the blame at the feet of other Republicans such as Ted Cruz,
saying, " I told my colleagues in July I didn't think shutting down the
government over Obamacare wouldn't work because the president said 'I'm
not going to negotiate.' So I told them in August, 'Probably not a good
idea'. Told them [again] in September."
Representative
Boehner also expressed a bit of the old butthurt about the American
public by saying "Congress has been America's favorite whipping boy for
200 years."
Except
during the Revolutionary War when it was the English, and during the
Civil War when it was the Confederate Secessionists, and during World
War I when it was the Germans, and in World War II when it was the
Nazis, the Japanese, and the Italians, and in Desert Storm when it was
the Iraqi Republican Guard, and the Iraq was when it was the Iraqi
people. We think Boehner might have a little persecution complex.
Watch Boehner admit that for some conservatives, nothing short of full-on Nazi will do for them.
