A gangster left to rot in a sealed barrel... and a stench of corruption that goes to the top
The Crown Prosecution Service is about to receive files on four
high-ranking police officers - two of them serving chief constables - to
decide if they should be charged in the wake of an alleged corruption
scandal. They are from top left: Chief Constable Adrian Lee, of
Northamptonshire, a former head of police ethics; Chief Constable
Suzette Davenport of Gloucestershire, a former head of witness
protection; Deputy Chief Constable Jane Sawyers, of Staffordshire; and
Assistant Chief Marcus Beale, of West Midlands. The CPS will have to
decide if the four will face criminal charges over allegaitons of paying
a murder inquiry witness. The witness was crucial in a trial brought in
the wake of the death of cocaine smuggler Floyd Dodson, whose body was
found in a sealed barrel in a country lane in Staffordshire.
