UNIFIL (United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon) claims that Israel
had used cluster bombs in response to the attack near the border fence
perpetrated by Hezbollah, thus was reported today (Thursday) in the
Lebanese newspaper "Daily Star".
According to the report, the charges made by
UNIFIL – according which Israel had used a weapon which is banned under
international conventions – was the result of a joint investigation by
UNIFIL and the Lebanese army.
A source from the security services told the "Daily Star" that the investigation team identified the launch areas of the artillery shells, as well as 10 areas who were hit in the shelling of the Shebba farms adjacent to the border.
