An Idaho lunch lady who was fired for giving a free lunch to a
12-year-old girl who had no money was offered her job back by the school
district Wednesday
night, reports the Idaho State Journal. Dalene Bowden was fired from
Irving Middle School last week after she offered to pay for a student's
$1.70 meal, but her supervisor said she could not, and so she provided
the meal for free. Bowden was placed on leave and then reportedly fired
for "theft of school district property" two days later, the newspaper wrote. The school district issued a press release about 9 p.m. Wednesday night offering Bowden her job back following the national backlash in the press and on social media. |
