San Diego Mayor Bob Filner (D) has asked for city funds to be made available to him to pay for his legal fees in the sexual harassment lawsuit against him, KGTV-TV reported on Monday.
The local city council will take up the matter at its Tuesday public meeting before discussing it in a closed session with City Attorney Jan Goldsmith. KGTV also reported that recall petitions against Filner will begin circulating on August 18.
“I don’t know that we can justify that expense, given the personal nature of the allegations,” council president Todd Gloria (D) told KGTV. “This was not stuff that was done in the course of the mayor’s work or required by his work. This is stuff he chose to do on his own.”
Filner’s former director of communications, Irene McCormack Jackson, filed suit against him on Monday, accusing him (PDF) of asking her, “When are you going to get naked?” and asking her to kiss him. Six other women have since come forward with similar accusations.
But council member Mark Kersey (R) told KGTV that local leaders are trying to determine how they would proceed in the event of a recall, citing a 2003 federal court ruling made in the wake of the recall of then-Gov. Gray Davis (D), requiring a separate election to decide whether to initiate a recall before voting on any prospective replacement for Filner.
Filner said on July 26 that, rather than step down, he would enter a two-week therapy program.

  1. OK OK... correct me if I understand this incorrectly, but this how I understand the matter...

This high positioned official, the mayor of a major city of the USA, is accused officially by an individual of sexual harassment and it is brought to court, and this same highly positioned official sort of has confessed to the accusation by saying that rather he will step down he will go into rehab, or therapy...... and this high positioned official dares to demand from the public to pay for his legal costs.......... to have the People pay for his crime, have public money spent on a case that involves his sexual activities....

    Am I nuts or what?

This man can not keep his hands to himself, this man can not keep his pants on his butt but needs to have them around his ankles, and claims (by demanding that public money be spent on his defense...) that what he did was part of his job... as otherwise there would no need to spent public money on his defense........

If there is such a clause in the contract of a mayor I hereby and herewith officially put myself up for candidate for mayor of whatever city ever, so that I can go around galavanting were and however I want and like, and have the Public pay for all of it!

Really..... If that sort of activities is included in the curriculum of being mayor of a major city, then I think those who wrote and decided on that curriculum should beheaded, after been cut in four pieces, have their genitals cut off, have their hands cut off, their tongue ripped out, and finally.... Ah Yes, I already said that.... be beheaded!

As I think should this highly positioned official!
