Federal appeals court rules Utah's gay-marriage ban unconstitutional

Los Angeles Times | June 25, 2014 | 9:22 AM

The Denver-based U.S.10th Circuit Court of Appeals upheld lower-court decisions that struck down the state’s ban on same-sex marriage.
The ruling sets the stage for an appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court, which touched off the current round of legal fighting when it struck down parts of the federal Defense of Marriage Act last year.
