4 Big Reasons Russia Doesn't Want Ukraine

1. Ukraine is bankrupt with its currency in freefall and output
plunging.
Turning its economy around is a massive challenge requiring immense investment. Russia doesn't have the money.
2.
Most Ukrainians don’t want Ukraine to be part of Russia. A distrubing
number of them are fascist extremists prone to grisly violence. Much
better to let the EU digest this one.
3. NATO would call it conquest and use it to justify Cold War 2.0.
4.
Russia doesn’t want to recreate the USSR. If it did, it would
have conquered Georgia in 2008 when it could have easily done so. It
had the perfect pretext. Georgia started a war by viciously attacking
pro-Russian separatists, clearly with US encouragement and support.
