After a year of negotiations with the Obama administration, France
has agreed to pay reparations to American Holocaust survivors who had
been deported to Nazi death camps via French trains. The bilateral
accord will be signed Monday
and includes a $60 million lump sum payment to be given to survivors,
spouses, or heirs. Some survivors could receive well over $100,000,
while spouses could receive tens of thousands of dollars.
