Three L.A. County sheriff's deputies convicted in jail beating case

Three Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies were convicted today of beating a jail visitor bloody and then lying to cover up their actions.
A federal jury found that deputies Sussie Ayala and Fernando Luviano and former Sgt. Eric Gonzalez used unreasonable force on Gabriel Carrillo in February 2011 when he came to visit his brother, who was an inmate at the county jail. The defendants were also convicted of falsifying records to obstruct justice.
The case stemmed from the FBI’s wide-ranging abuse investigation at the county jails.
