A teenager said he was left 'shocked' when he received an email from phone giant EE calling him a 'f****** c***' after he tried to pay his bill over the phone.
Customer Charlie Doherty, from Bexleyheath, south east London, said he phoned the network but got into an argument when the call handler refused to accept the £35 payment.
The 18-year-old admitted he 'said something' in the 'heat of the moment', reportedly prompting the EE employee to end the phone call.
Moments later, the offensive message appeared in his inbox.
According to the Sun, the email read: 'This is an email confirming that your order with EE has now been cancelled and any refunds required have now been raised.
'Same to u ur a f****** c***'. The message was still signed off 'Kind Regards EE'.
Mr Doherty, a carpenter, told the newspaper he was 'shocked' when he read the reply.
He said: 'It is one thing being rude on the phone in the heat of the moment and regretting it and another thing all together sitting down and sending a sweary email to a customer.'
A spokeswoman for EE told MailOnline that Mr Doherty had originally phoned to ask for an upgrade to an iPhone6 and was told he was not eligible at that time.
He was also told he had outstanding charges listed on his account as he had been late paying bills, she said.
She added Mr Doherty had told the call handler 'f*** you, you c***', and that he was the one who ended the phone call.
EE said in a statement: 'The email Mr Doherty received is inexcusable and appropriate action has been taken against the member of staff.'
