Lawyer: Rape Kit in NHL Case Tampered

A lawyer for the woman who has accused Chicago Blackhawks player Patrick Kane of sexual assault alleges that someone tampered with the police evidence bag involved in the case. Thomas J. Eoannou said his client’s mother found a bag containing the case’s rape kit on her front porch Tuesday, which could obviously inhibit the investigation. “If you’re looking for a surefire way to scuttle a prosecution, you tamper with evidence,” Eoannou said. It is unclear whether Eoannou confirmed the authenticity of the bag with authorities. Later, Erie County Police Commissioner John Glascott said that all evidence in the case was accounted for and in its original packaging.
