The former Navy SEAL who wrote a bestselling book that claimed he shot
Osama bin Laden is facing a federal criminal investigation into whether
he personally profited while on active duty. Matthew Bissonnette, who
wrote 2012’s No Easy Day, was already being probed by the Justice
Department and the Navy for allegedly revealing classified information
in the book. As part of a deal to avoid prosecution, Bissonnette
reportedly gave officials his computer’s hard drive, which was said to
contain images of bin Laden’s corpse. The Obama administration has tried
to keep pictures of bin Laden’s body from being published, citing
national-security reasons.
