NYPD’s Brian Moore, 25, is in critical but stable condition after being
shot in the face in Queens on Saturday. The suspect is Demetrius
Blackwell, an ex-con and cousin of former New York Giants cornerback
Kory Blackwell. According to the police, the officer and his partner
pulled up behind the suspect when they say him “adjusting an object in
his waistband” and tried to question him. Blackwell then allegedly
pulled out a gun and fired off a number of rounds into the car while the
officers were still inside. Blackwell has been arrested.
UPDATE May 3, 5:45 p.m.: Officer Moore's condition has detoriated, and
he is fighting for his life.
