Patriot Leader Who Threatened To Rip Harry Reid’s Balls Off, Lives Off Gov Disabililty Checks
Mike Vanderbeogh, leader of the militia group Three Percenters, spoke
to militia members still gathered at Cliven Bundy’s ranch in Nevada
last week to warn that the country is “staring a civil war in its bloody
face and that Harry Reid will have his “balls ripped off.”
Democratic Underground user Kpete recalled a story in the Washington Post where it mentions Vanderboegh’s disability checks, while in the next breath, the militia leader speaks against what he perceives as President Obama’s ‘collectivism.’

The Washington Post reported in 2010:
Do tell us again Mr. Three Percenter how you plan to ‘rip’ Harry Reid’s balls off?
In contrast, Vanderbeogh threw such a hissy fit when Obama’s health care reform bill passed, that in March 2010, he encouraged his readers to throw rocks through the windows of Democratic Party headquarters, writing:
Mr. Vanderwhateverthefuckhisnamis is simply an angry old white man who rages against the collectivism he lives on, while traveling to Nevada to support one of the biggest moochers we’ve witnessed in ages. He incites violence, asking others to do his bidding, while contributing nothing. He is the entitled class he rages against.
To be clear, there’s nothing wrong with getting disability checks, unless you’re angry because other people are entitled to them too. You’re nothing special Mr. Vanderboegh. You’re just part of the 99 percent, not the 3 percent.
Big thanks to Kpete at Democratic Underground.

The Washington Post reported in 2010:
Vanderboegh said he once worked as a warehouse manager but now lives on government disability checks. He said he receives $1,300 a month because of his congestive heart failure, diabetes and hypertension. He has private health insurance through his wife, who works for a company that sells forklift products.Harry Reid was the third son in an incredibly poor family that lived in a shack one step up from Lincoln’s log cabin.Reid lived in a town that had no high school, so he hitchhiked 60 miles per week to the nearest town with a school. He later went on to become a boxer. He said,“The black eyes and soreness to me were badges of honor to wear the next day, and I’d fight every chance I got.”
Born in Michigan and raised in Ohio, Vanderboegh said he was not always a libertarian. He once was active in the Young Socialist Alliance and the Progressive Labor Party. “In my youth, I was a communist,” he said. But in the mid-1970s, Vanderboegh read Friedrich von Hayek’s “The Road to Serfdom,” among other books, and had an epiphany.
“From that point on, I could never take Marxism-Leninism seriously again,” Vanderboegh said.
He said he long opposed President Obama because he believed the president has “collectivism” tendencies. But he became especially energized during the health-care debate.

[I]f you wish to send a message that [House Speaker Nancy] Pelosi and her party cannot fail to hear, break their windows. Break them NOW. Break them and run to break again. Break them under cover of night. Break them in broad daylight. Break them and await arrest in willful, principled civil disobedience. Break them with rocks. Break them with slingshots. Break them with baseball bats. But BREAK them. And a few of his readers obeyed, smashing the windows of a handful of congressional offices, including the Tucson office of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.).
