Dolce & Gabbana Suddenly “Love” Gay Adoption, Complain They Were Unfairly Boycotted

Stefano
Gabbana and Domenico Dolce are taking back disgraceful comments they made about
in vitro fertilization (IVF) and same-sex marriage in a magazine interview last
week, playing the old “we’re allowed to have opinions”
card in a new interview with CNN Wednesday.
The
gay fashion designers, better known by their brand Dolce & Gabbana,
committed career assassination when they told Panorama that
they believe same-sex parenting is unnatural, and that children born through IVF
are “synthetic” and of “rented wombs.”
“We
oppose gay adoptions,” they said. “The only family is the traditional
one.”
A
boycott of the D&G brand was immediately called by Elton John, father of two children born through IVF,
on Instagram. “How
dare you refer to my beautiful children as ‘synthetic,” he wrote. “Your
archaic thinking is out of step with the times, just like your
fashions.”
The
comments were almost unanimously criticized by other celebrities including
Courtney Love and Andy Cohen, who vowed to rid their closets of the D&G
brand.
Responding
to criticism in the CNN interview
below, Gabbana claims he does not agree with Dolce’s view on families with
same-sex parents.”We love gay couple. We are gay. We love gay couple. We love
gay adoption. We love everything. It’s just an express of my private point of
view,” he said.
The
pair also say they’ve been unfairly targeted by the boycott. “Boycott Dolce
& Gabbana for what?” said Gabbana. “They don’t think like you? This is
correct? This is not correct. We are in 2015. This is like medieval. It’s not
correct.”
