The FBI released documents Monday
confirming an agency investigation of presidential contender Hillary
Clinton’s controversial private email server. A letter from FBI General
Counsel James Baker, made public the night before Tuesday’s
New Hampshire primary, admits the inquiry is ongoing but does not
clarify whether it is tied to a criminal case or expands further than a
security review. However, the letter marks the first time that the
agency has formally and publicly notified the State Department of such a
probe. The FBI has previously acknowledged that it was looking into the
issue but never confirmed “the specific focus, scope, or potential
targets of any such proceedings,” Baker wrote. |
