TX Cop Kills Unarmed, Naked Black Teen

An Austin police officer shot and killed unarmed, black 17-year-old David Joseph on Monday morning. Law enforcement officials confirmed Tuesday afternoon that Joseph was not in possession of a weapon at the time, and that police were responding to a call about a man chasing someone through an apartment complex. The officer involved has been identifed as Geoffrey Freeman, who reportedly opened fire within seconds of encountering Joseph. Austin police chief of staff declined to say whether the victim had any past history of mental illness.
