Southern California Gas to pay $4-million settlement over Porter Ranch gas leak

Southern California Gas will pay a $4-million settlement to end a case concerning the utility’s handling of the massive Porter Ranch gas leak last year, Los Angeles County prosecutors announced today.
Under the deal, the company pleaded no contest to one misdemeanor count, which alleged that it failed to immediately report the Oct. 23, 2015, gas leak to local officials, as it was required to do.
