A
paramedic student was gangraped and brutally assaulted by six men in
this private bus on December 16 and then thrown out of the moving
vehicle along with her male friend near Dwarka. After lying unattended
for over two hours, they were admitted to Safdarjung Hospital.

The prosecution has established beyond reasonable doubt that Mukesh, Vinay Sharma, Akshay Thakur and Pawan Gupta were guilty of the attack on the 23-year-old woman in a bus on December 16, ruled additional sessions judge Yogesh Khanna in a jam-packed courtroom.
The accused were found guilty of the several offences--including gang-rape, murder, kidnapping and unnatural offences-- they had been charged with. The court said the dying declarations of the victim, statements of 85 prosecution witnesses, DNA, forensic and electronic evidence proved the guilt of the accused.

The court will pronounce the quantum of sentence on September 11. Sources in the prosecution team in the case have said they will demand death sentence for all the accused as the crime was 'rarest of rare'. Courts in India award death only for the "rarest of rare crimes".
The victim had said in her dying declaration that the accused during the rape inserted iron rods into her body, ripped out her internal organs, beat her and bit her all over.
A juvenile has already been sentenced to three years in a correctional facility, while a fifth defendant, bus driver Ram Singh, was found hanging in his prison cell in March while awaiting trial.

The victim and her male friend had spent the evening watching a movie at a mall in south Delhi when they were picked up by a private bus. The six men on the bus subjected the couple to a horrifying 45-minute ordeal that ended with both of them thrown out of the bus, virtually unconscious and naked.
The woman died of her injuries on December 29 in a Singapore hospital.
