Barack Obama Shakes Hands With Raul Castro, Will Republicans Implode in Horror?
by IB Times
In a move which presumably sent Republicans across America into a paroxysm of bigoted horror, Barack Obama shook hands with Raul Castro at the memorial for Nelson Mandela held in Johannesburg today.
Obama
shook hands with Castro, brother of former Cuban president Fidel,
during the memorial ceremony for Nelson Mandela, whom he hailed as South
Africa's "last great liberator".
IBTimes UK says
Obama continued by meeting a plethora of world leaders during the
memorial at a Johannesburg soccer stadium, and even kissed Brazilian
president Dilma Rousseff. Sadly he didn't offer Castro the same
courtesy.
Nonetheless
the gesture of friendship towards the Cuban leader, who is viewed among
Republicans with roughly the same affection as Lenin and Liberace, will
doubtless prompt a wave of anger within the ranks of the Tea Party.
Few
will have forgotten the outrage which greeted Jay-Z's visit to Cuba
earlier this year. Three Cuban-American Republicans decried the trip in
Congress, even though the rapper steered clear of any government
officials during his trip, and appeared to do little apart from pose for
photographs and release a rubbish rap song.
One
of the offended Congressmen described Cuba's regime as "cruel,
repressive and murderous," which makes you wonder why they don't hold it
in higher esteem.
