Even Twitter Can’t Stand the “I Stand With Phil” Duck Dynasty Petition

Even Twitter Can’t Stand the “I Stand With Phil” Duck Dynasty Petition

by Jeromie Williams
Shortly after Phil Robertson made homophobic remarks in an interview with GQ, and was kicked off of his fake reality show Duck Dynasty, the Christian right rose up and started the #istandwithPhil movement to get him back on the show.
That entire movement seems now to be in jeopardy after Twitter started blocking links to the site housing a petition to have Robertson reinstated.
Mediate was the first to notice the bold move by Twitter and had this to say about it:

#IStandWithPhil has been trending on Twitter for days, but links to the actual site, run by Christian group Faith Driven Consumer, are being flagged for spam.

You can see for yourself below what happens if you try to tweet out a link to the website (using the Twitter for Mac app).

Faith Driven Consumer denies that they are hosting malware, but if Twitter says it is, then who are we or anyone else to not believe them.  Right?
