‘I Just Instantly Burst Into Tears’: Uninsured Florida Woman Gets $3.19 Obamacare Policy!

‘I Just Instantly Burst Into Tears’: Uninsured Florida Woman Gets $3.19 Obamacare Policy!

60 year-old JoAnn Smith made waves today as the newest Obamacare success story. Smith expressed her overwhelmingly gracious emotions to NBC News after she successfully enrolled yesterday for a health insurance plan that will cost her just $3.19 a month through an Affordable Care Act exchange.  Smith, who has been uninsured for years since her employer does not currently offer coverage, described her new plan as "totally mind-blowing."
Smith said of the company's decision to forgo insurance for their employees,

"They took a vote at the company and people wanted more money in their pockets."

Now, with her new extremely inexpensive Obamacare policy, Smith will be able to cover other family members like her 56-year old husband.
There is no doubt that the Republicans wishing for Obamacare to fail will certainly shudder at the site of this awesome success story. To be fair, Smith had previously attempted to sign up for health insurance, but Obamacare's rough start with website glitches had prevented her from successfully enrolling. But now with the functioning website, Smith stated that the Obamacare's sign-up process is now working swimmingly and her application "took seconds to complete" according to NBC. Smith now only has to confirm payment with her new insurer. She is so overwhelmed by the amazing experience that she half-jokingly said:

"I am kind of afraid to call them because I feel like it's a trick. I am afraid I will call and they will say 'JoAnn who?'"

According to NBC, federal health officials say they'll report sometime in mid-December on how many people were able to sign up for health insurance in November. But it is safe to say that if people are having the same experience as JoAnna Smith, those numbers will be way above the current estimation.
