Missouri Man Arrested for Firing Stolen Rifle at Two Kids and Dog
by John Prager
A Hallsville, Missouri
man is behind bars after "standing his ground" against a trio
of fearsome aggressors: two children and a dog that they were trying to
catch after it slipped off of its leash. According to police, as the
children were chasing the canine, 39 year old Brian Gravatt
fired his rifle toward the trio. He then chased them with his Second
Amendment Stick until he was confronted by their mother, at whom he also
shot his weapon.
The children's mother confronted Gravatt, causing him to level the rifle at her as well.
Gravatt's
previous felony conviction made it illegal for him to possess a
firearm, but that did not stop him from stealing it from a legal gun
owner.
Gravatt
was arrested on six charges, including second degree assault, armed
criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a firearm
unlawful for certain persons, third degree assault, and receiving stolen
property.
Gravatt is being held in the Boone County Jail. Bond is set at $23,000.
Fortunately,
no one was harmed thanks to the prompt response time by local police.
In this case, it seems that the "good guy with a gun" was careless, and
allowed the "bad guy" to steal his bang-stick. It's fortunate that the
"good guy's" carelessness did not result in the curtailing of multiple
lives.
