Former Katter’s Australia Party candidate
and outspoken Australian homophobe Bernard Gaynor has called on
Australia’s Defense Minister to halt the production of a set of rainbow
flag gay lapel pins and cufflinks bearing the Australian Army’s rising
sun badge.
Gaynor is a Major in the Australian Army Reserve and an outspoken critic of LGBTI people having equal rights and is disgusted that the rising sun badge, warn by Australian troops in both World Wars, is being associated with LGBTI rights.
Gaynor accused the Defense Force of ‘wasting taxpayer dollars on jewellery to promote homosexuality.’
‘The rising sun badge is a symbol of the Australian Army and is loved and respected by Australians of all walks of life,’ Gaynor told the West Australian newspaper.
‘It is an insult to all current and former serving personnel for the rising sun to be linked with the political campaign for homosexual marriage.’
On his blog Gaynor claimed that homosexuality made ‘normal Australians shudder.’
‘Defense has been hijacked by activists who are not interested in fighting and defeating an enemy. Instead, they are focused on using Defense to promote their grotesque social agenda.’
‘A cadre of homosexuals within the ranks has gained control of Defense leadership, supported by radical politicians from the Left in the parliament. As a result, behavior that would normally be condemned is free to flourish.’
Gaynor is expecting an impending decision from the Australian Defense Force on whether to sack him after he made a series of public comments attacking Muslims and defense personnel marching in uniform in the Sydney Mardi Gras Parade.
The gay rainbow pride army lapel pins and cufflinks were produced to celebrate the Australian Army’s commitment to its LGBTI personnel and are available for any member of the Australian Army who wants them.
