'They don't allow males to dance with males to country songs': Young gay couple furious after they were ejected from Texas night club for 'security reasons'

Justin Meyer and his boyfriend, James Douglas, have accused Cactus Canyon Club in Victoria of discriminating against them for being gay.
On Saturday, the young couple, who have been dating since March, headed to the local hotspot hoping to take a spin around the dance floor.

Strict: The owner of the Victoria, Texas, hotspot told the couple they had a policy in place banning men from dancing together due to 'security reasons'

Instead, they were confronted by the owner who told them they were not allowed to dance because they were men and due to unspecified 'security reasons.'
'He told me they have a policy that states that they don't allow males to dance with males to country songs,’ Douglas recalled to KAVU-TV. ‘I said, “Just country?” and he said, “yes.”' 

  According to Meyer, when he pressed the owner of the lounge to show them the policy banning men from dancing together in writing, he disregarded the request.

Cactus Canyon spokesperson Roger Gearhart confirmed to KAVU-TV that the establishment does indeed have a policy prohibiting men from dancing together, but noted that Meyer and Douglas were asked to leave not because of their sexual orientation, but because of their clash with the owner.
Gearhart also added that while women have long been allowed to take it to the floor together in clubs around the country, the same does not necessarily apply to men.

‘It's not acceptable for men to dance together in the type of business that we run,’ Mr Gearhart told the station.
However, the young patrons believe they were singled out by the bar owner for being gay.
‘Why should we feel like we are afraid to go out in public just because of the way we were born?’ Douglas said.
