Coming not less than a week after Facebook deleted a post by openly gay director and playwright Del Shore who celebrated equal marriage rights in Pennsylvania and referred back to an episode of the made-in-Toronto Queer As Folk — of which Shores was a writer and producer.  Facebook has now deleted the extremely popular LGBT support and civil rights page Loud and Queer for "hate speech"
"There were 2000 happy members in the group discussing LGBT rights and support" said Will Kolb creator of the Facebook page.  "There were no issues..it was a monitored group by skilled adminstrators.  They just deleted it. There were 2000 happy members in the group discussing LGBT rights and support. They claimed it was a hate group..and threatening."
"I never saw anything hateful posted on Loud and Queer" said Arizona web producer Fritz Liess a frequent poster to the group.  "It was all positive"
In the past few months complaints have been arising frequently against Facebook for removing perfectly acceptable LGBT themed content under the guise of "content that does not meet Facebook's community standards"
A woman in Italy has had her Facebook account suspended after she posted a pro-LGBT rights picture of two fully clothed women kissing.
Carlotta Trevisan, a 28-year-old mother, was told she had broken Facebook’s rules regarding “nudity and pornography” when she uploaded the image to mark International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia (IDAHOT) on Saturday. Facebook contacted Ms Trevisan later that day, she said, to ask her to remove the image. When she refused, she was told her profile would be deleted for “violating the community’s standards”.
While it does seem that Facebook does have a problem with LGBT content and is willing to jump through hoops as not to offend any bigoted audience it does not move as quickly on  very real and very dangerous anti-gay Facebook pages and content..
Recently it took a petition of 700 signatures, and much longer for it to remove a homophobic Facebook page aimed at outing gay Ugandans.
Meanwhile Will Kolb has RE-CREATED the Loud and Out group and invites everyone to join: here is the link:
