Two Bexar County, Texas, sheriff’s deputies have been placed on
administrative leave after a video showed them appearing to shoot a man
standing still with his hands up during a domestic-violence call. Greg
Vasquez and Robert Sanchez said they found a woman holding a baby and
bleeding from her head, as well as a shirtless man with a knife,
according to the sheriff’s department. The deputies claimed they’d tried
to subdue the shirtless man, Gilbert Flores, with a Taser and shield
for at least 20 minutes. In video obtained by the local news station,
however, Flores appears to stand perfectly still with his apparently
empty hands up before one of the officers shot him. |
