Teen who inspired change to Colorado medical marijuana law has died
Jack Splitt, whose fight with cerebral palsy opened Colorado school doors to medical marijuana treatments, died Wednesday.
He was 15. Splitt, who was the inspiration behind “Jack’s Law,” started
classes at Wheat Ridge High School last week. Splitt suffered from
crippling, debilitating muscle contractions that he dealt with by using
cannabis-derived treatment. They worsened Wednesday
and he succumbed, said his mother, Stacey Linn. Jack's mom fought for
the right for parents and caregivers to provide cannabis treatments on
school grounds for children who are registered medical marijuana
patients, and "Jack's Law" became official this year.
