In a rare move, the Los Angeles County district attorney’s
office sharply rebuked the actions of a Long Beach police officer in the
moments before he shot and killed an unarmed man last year.Prosecutors declined to prosecute Officer Jeffrey Meyer but called his failure to give the man a chance to surrender “deeply troubling” and said his actions turned a routine trespassing call into a deadly shooting.
