Kristof Buntinx Protests Russian Anti-Gay Laws With Underwear Calendar

Kristof Buntinx Protests Russian Anti-Gay Laws With Underwear Calendar

After Kristof Buntinx saw some of the atrocities happening to gay people in Russia, he had to act. “If you do not like the fact that I am homosexual, I can learn to live with it. But to humiliate, attack and torture people is really going too far,” he wrote in an open letter on his website.
The designer did what he does best, creating pairs of men’s boxers that embrace LGBT culture and satirize the government. The campaign is entitled “To Russia with Love.” The boxers will be featured in a calendar that will be released later in September. The calendar will be available in English, Dutch, and Russian.
Buntinx hopes this revolution would be a quiet one. “Just imagine that you live in Russia, where you cannot be gay, but under your clothing you are still able to wear a pair of protest shorts. Is that not a nice thought?” he wrote.
Check out a behind the scenes video of the calendar shoot by photographer Herman Van Gestel.
