First U.S. Senator signs on to deport Justin Bieber
The petition to deport Justin Bieber at the White House’s We The People site has exceeded 240,000 signatures—about two and a half times the number needed to require a response from the Obama Administration. While the White House hasn’t given its answer yet, one U.S. Senator weighed in Tuesday and said he’s willing to sign on to the effort.
Democrat Mark Warner of Virginia was asked about the petition to deport Bieber on a local radio show, and responded: “As a dad with three daughters, is there some place I can sign?” He followed up, “It’s true, I’m not a Belieber.”
While deportation isn’t necessarily a slam dunk based on Bieber’s Miami DUI, a legal case could be made if he winds up getting convicted of egging his neighbor’s house—a charge that would count as felony vandalism.
Politico points out that competing petitions to save Bieber from deportation have earned a combined total of less than 10,000 signatures.
If the Obama Administration refuses to deport Bieber even if he’s convicted of a felony, things could get a little awkward. Signatures close February 22, and a response should be forthcoming in March.
