Coca-Cola's
Super Bowl ad has sparked a good bit of controversy from the White wing
bigots. In a celebration of America's tradition of accepting all races
and cultures into our great, big, melting pot, Coca Cola's ad featured
"America the Beautiful," sung in a number of different languages.
Right wing jingoists, including an Oklahoma state representative,
responded by taking to social media and declaring their new allegiance
to Pepsi, a company that supports gay rights, or Dr. Pepper, a product
that (depending on region) is licensed by either Coke or Pepsi.
Atlanta
news station NBC 11's Brenda Wood closed her broadcast by hammering the
nation's conservatives by laying out everything that is wrong with
their hatred and anger over this, though some Tea Party officials would
argue that the "melting pot" philosophy means that all traces of one's cultural heritage must be burned away and replaced with "MURIKA" (It's OK, though. They're not racists. You are, for pointing out their racism.)

Katharine Lee Bates, in 1895, an English professor at Wellesley, who also wrote lovingly about her long-time committed relationship to another woman!
