Bigots Give Immigration Reform Activists Nazi Salute, Tell the Demostrators to ‘Go Back to Mexico’

Bigots Give Immigration Reform Activists Nazi Salute, Tell the Demostrators to ‘Go Back to Mexico’

The state of Washington sees heightened racial discrimination at a pro-reform demonstration outside the Spokane City Hall. Activists not only heard ignorant racial slurs, but were also greeted with the middle finger.
A young man told the group to “Go back to Mexico,” paused at the intersection of Post Street and Spokane Falls Boulevard to Nazi salute the activists and yelled “Heil Hitler”. He then gave them the middle finger and cowardly ran away.
Fast for Families, a group that is fighting to achieve real immigration reform, led the demonstration in Washington. In 2013 Fast for Families has come the closest to achieving their goal due to the Senate passing an inclusive immigration bill this past June. It should be no surprise that the Republicans in the House continue to delay important votes that would significantly improve immigration circumstances in our country and end deportations, deaths that occur at the border, and ultimately give immigrants hope to becoming US citizens.
According to the Spokesman-Review:
[box type="shadow"]A young man walked briskly past the ongoing news conference and, with TV cameras rolling, muttered, “Go back to Mexico.” He then continued toward the intersection of Post Street and Spokane Falls Boulevard and swiveled back to face the group, raising his arm in a Nazi salute and yelling, “Heil Hitler” before extending his middle finger as he scampered away.
The activists from Fast for Families ignored the racist antics and continued their rally, though one of the organizers later confided that while the group is accustomed to occasional heckling, the one-fingered Nazi salute marked a new low.
It’s extremely upsetting to see discrimination like this towards groups such as Fast for Families, who are fighting for citizenship and acceptance, but are being treated so intolerably.[/box]
