GOP Presidential Hopeful Mike Huckabee Says Abortion Will Lead to Euthanizing Old Folks
by Josh Kilburn
The
rhetoric surrounding the abortion issue is laced with emotional baggage
and red herrings. Nobody illustrated this better in recent days than
Mike Huckabee. Deep in his feverish imagination, Huckabee seems to think
that by allowing abortion to continue, we'll end up euthanizing old
folks. He made this outrageous claim (among other outrageous claims) at a
Wednesday night political gathering hosted by the badly named
anti-choice group, the Susan B. Anthony List.
Huckabee asked:
"If we teach the generation coming after us that it’s okay to terminate a human life because it represents a financial hardship or social disruption, what are we telling them?”
This guy's a character. With one side of his face he says that removing brain-dead teens from life support will result in Nazi Concentration camps, and with the other claims that individuals should be dumped from their insurance if they're a burden.
Like
so many of the anti-choice, forced-birther movement, he winds up
trapped in a nasty hypocrisy that underscores everything he says and
does: he wants all the life he can get, but he and others like him are
not willing to pay the social cost to take care of it. Maybe we should
invest in forcing these people to read about what happened to Romania
under the thumb of Ceaușescu.
He went on to add,
"We’ve already given them the full capability to take us out. Now, I’m not going to make it that easy for my children to get rid of me.”
Newsflash, Mr. Huckabee - the world's already gotten rid of you; and we're leaving you far behind.
