Woman Witnesses Thrift Shop Refuse to Give Homeless Man Coat, Opens Store Where Everything is FREE
by Sky Palma
In
a beautiful testament to human solidarity, a clothing store in
Hollister, Missouri is offering an incredible deal – all their
merchandise is free.
After
witnessing a thrift-store turn away a homeless man who was looking for a
coat, Andrea Berdine was inspired to start Selfless Blessings, a store
that gives away hygiene products, clothing and baby supplies.
"He wasn't asking for money," Berdine said in an interview with KY3 news. "He was cold, and he was wet, and he needed a coat."
"I found him, gave him a coat [and] told him how sorry we were, couldn't believe that happened in our community," she said.
Now
that the shop is up and running, people from the community come and
drop off clothes and other items on a regular basis, giving Berdine a
steady stream of good to hand out pass on to the needy.
"We have supporters come in and drop a ten-dollar donation and leave with nothing but a hug," Andrea told the Good News Network. "We have others who come in and leave with bags full of food and toiletries and pay nothing, but a thankful hug."
