Mich. lawmakers vote to let adoption agencies refuse gay parents
Michigan's
Republican-led House approved a bill last week that would allow
adoption agencies to refuse gay couples on the basis of religious
beliefs. The bill would prevent state or local government from punishing
adoption agencies exercising objections. "It's not just [a] license to
discriminate. It's actually writing a check for that discrimination,"
said state Rep. Jeff Irwin, a Democrat. MLive.com (Michigan) (free registration)
