How much do bosses at YOUR council earn? Mail investigation reveals huge pay deals for the public sector fatcats - so now find out how much YOUR local authority chief takes home
The shocking scale of fat cat pay in the public sector is
exposed today by a major Daily Mail investigation. Following the most
detailed audit of state earnings ever, we reveal how bosses milk the
taxpayer for millions of pounds. Even those presiding over national
scandals - such as child abuse and fraud - have pocketed huge salaries.
The details came to light only through 6,000 freedom of information
requests and months of painstaking research by the Mail and the
TaxPayers' Alliance. We can reveal the chief executive of South Tees
Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Tricia Hart, 59, (far left) has a £1.26m
pay package. Former Cumbria County Council chief Jill Stannard, 57,
(second left) earned £411,025 a year - 16 times the local wage, while
Joanna Simons, 56, of Oxfordshire Council (centre) presided over a sex
grooming scandal and has a £590,501 package. Sharon Shoesmith, 62,
(second right) received a £679,452 settlement after the Appeal Court
ruled she was unfairly sacked by Haringey Council over the Baby P
scandal. Meanwhile, the highest paid council boss in Wales Bryn
Parry-Jones, 59, charged the taxpayer £2,368 a month to drive a Porsche
(far right).
