Planned Parenthood Sues TX Over Medicaid

Planned Parenthood filed a lawsuit against Texas in federal court Monday in an effort to suspend the state’s threat to cut off its Medicaid funding. The suit contends the state’s decision to halt Planned Parenthood’s Medicaid funding, which is set to take effect as early as Dec. 8, was politically motivated. The lawsuit comes as Texas and other Republican-led states attempt to cut funding for the women’s health provider after secretly recorded videos were released by an anti-abortion group, purporting to show Planned Parenthood officials trying to illegally profit off the sale of aborted fetal tissue. Planned Parenthood has said the videos were heavily edited and the group did not do anything illegal or unethical.
