Palestinian journalists say Israeli forces are targeting them
Oren Ziv / Activestills.org--For Palestinian photojournalists working in the West Bank and East Jerusalem . . . being the on the receiving end of police and military violence is nothing new. It is commonplace, and it is most often completely ignored by Israeli journalists and politicians alike. dn
Israel jails own Palestinian citizen without charge or trial

How the government rewards its most violent settlers
Yesh Din, written by Yossi Gurvitz--One would expect the Israeli government to put an end to attacks by the settlers of Adei Ad on Palestinian civilians. In fact, it rewards them by planning to legalize their West Bank outpost. dn
The idea that people living under violent military occupation must be instructed in nonviolence is problematic
Michael Merryman-Lotze--This morning I read yet another comment from someone in the US putting forward their solution to the “conflict” in Palestine and Israel. Apparently Palestinian women need to start pushing for Gandhian nonviolence, challenging their men who are more naturally inclined towards violence (like all men). They need to teach their kids about the value of nonviolence. Apparently, if Palestinians can manage to teach a new generation of youth to internalize nonviolence then the “cycle of violence” can be upended and peace can be achieved. I’m glad that yet another person in the U.S. can offer their wisdom to Palestinians.dn
Amos Oz quietly declines to attend Foreign Ministry events abroad
LIDAR GRAVֹ-LAZI - Jerusalem Post - “I am often invited by my publishers abroad to take part in the launching of translations of my books. Following the radicalization in the policy of the present government in various areas, I told my hosts abroad that I prefer not to be a guest of honor in events organized for me by Israeli embassies,” he told The Jerusalem Post on Thursday. “My decision is aimed against the government not against my country.” [bz]
Palestinian Political Crisis Worries Israel No Less Than Terror Wave
Amos Harel - Haaretz - Israel is less worried about the immediate implications of the wave of violence, which is continuing at middling intensity, than about the anarchy that could descend on the West Bank as a result of an internal political crisis among the Palestinians. Because the PA is also facing growing economic problems, there is also a possibility that the interplay between those pressures will cause the PA to abandon its responsibility altogether, with the result that Israel will be sucked in again, against its will, to a position of assuming full rule over the West Bank population.
