Gay, lesbian candidates victorious nationwide on Election Day
Election Day 2011 brought groundbreaking wins for openly gay and lesbian candidates in cities across the U.S., including Indianapolis; Cincinnati; Charlotte, N.C.; and Missoula, Mont., say LGBT activists. "The election of gay and lesbian candidates in places where they have never won before is a major step forward," said Chuck Wolfe, president and CEO of the Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund. More than 70% of the group’s endorsed candidates won their races this year. The Huffington Post/Gay Voices (11/10), Examiner.com (11/9), Metro Weekly (Washington, D.C.)
