A campus police officer in San Antonio is being questioned by Texas rangers after shooting and killing an unarmed student and the incident was overheard by a nearby resident. The officer’s account of what occurred seems to be in stark contrast to that of people who knew the unarmed student who was gunned down.
The college student from Houston was shot and killed early Friday morning by a University of the Incarnate Word police officer, according to UIW officials.

Lt. Cindy Pruitt of the Alamo Heights Police Department said that University of the Incarnate Word Cpl. Chris Carter pulled over 23 year-old Robert Cameron Redus into the parking lot of the Treehouse Apartments around 2:00 a.m., at which point they both got out of the vehicles and became involved in a struggle. She said the officer radioed for help during the struggle and Redus was shot multiple times.
But, a witness from the apartment building said the officer never warned Redus before shooting him 4-6 times.
22 year-old Mohammad Haidarasal said, “I heard (a man) say, ‘Oh, you’re gonna shoot me?’ like sarcastic almost.”
It was less than a minute later, Haidarasl heard four to six gunshots.
He said, “I jumped up and hid in my closet.”
Redus was described by neighbors and friends as “kind, intelligent, compassionate and well-loved within the community.:
One  of his friends said, “He was not an aggressive person at all, so the story doesn’t make sense.”
The investigation is ongoing and could take days.
