Oprah Considers Buying the Clippers
Donald Sterling's worst nightmare may become reality: a black woman buying his basketball team. ESPN reports Oprah Winfrey is considering joining David Geffen and Larry Ellison to make a bid to buy the Los Angeles Clippers if Sterling sells. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver banned Sterling for life from the league Tuesday and said he's asked the league's board of governors (team owners) to force Sterling to sell. Geffen, a music mogul with a fortune estimated at $6.2 billion, tried to buy a controlling stake in the Clippers four years ago. Ellison, the billionaire CEO of Oracle, has tried to buy several sports teams in recent years.
