Tennessee sheriff reinstates 2 officers
May 15, 2014 - 5:04 PM
The Knoxville News Sentinel (http://bit.ly/1gIq7Se ) reports that Knox County Sheriff Jimmy "J.J." Jones said Officers Brandon Gilliam and Ronald Chaperon Jr. will return to regular duty Friday. They were suspended with pay April 27.
A statement on the sheriff's office website says Jones found Gilliam and Chaperon weren't responsible or complicit in what happened with Officer Frank Phillips.
Jones first fired Phillips after photos surfaced of the officer subduing a handcuffed prisoner using a pressure point not taught in training. Phillips was later allowed to take deferred retirement and his personnel file stated he had resigned.
