Silwan, Jerusalem (SILWANIC) —The Keshet production company in coordination with the Jerusalem Municipality and Israeli Ministry of Economy is getting ready to film a new drama series for American network NBC in the settlement outpost “City of David” that is established at the entrance of Silwan south of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The six-episode series, entitled DIG, will revolve around the murder of an American archaeologist in Jerusalem (his life, work and investigation of the murder).  The cost of the series is estimated to be tens of millions of dollars. The project was praised by both Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barakat and Economy Minister Naftali Bennett and considered it to be an achievement for the whole production industry in the area since Israel is rich in terms of historical monuments and places and being the first American series filmed in Israel.
Wadi Hilweh neighbourhood committee requested Keshet production company and NBC network not to film in the settlement outpost established on the lands of Silwan since it will contest the Islamic and Arabic history and serve in the falsification of facts in the town of Silwan.
The committee invited officials from the company and NBC network to visit the neighbourhood of Wadi Hilweh and get introduced to its history, features and daily Israeli violations carried out by the occupation authorities before filming a series that will only enhance the false Israeli story on one hand and blurs the Arab and Islamic civilizations on another.
The committee denounced the Israeli aims and goals behind filming the series in the settlement outpost of “City of David” since it is surrounded by Islamic historical monuments from all the sides; Southern Wall, Dome of the Rock, Umayyad Palaces, the Wailing Wall (Buraq) in addition to the presence of several monuments from different ages inside the settlement.
The committee considered the filming of the series inside the settlement outpost and without referring to the 55 thousand residents of Silwan to be a promotion to the lies of the Israeli authorities and a step moving forward in the cancellation of the history of the original residents. The committee appealed for the American Consulate to interfere and prevent the filming in the Islamic Arabic neighbourhood.
The committee also pointed out to the assaults carried out by the settlers living in Silwan and especially “City of David” against the residents of Silwan as they continuously provoke the children and verbally and physically abuse them. The committee also pointed out the actions of the armed guards of settlers who continuously arrest the children and young men in addition to the killing of Martyr Samer Sarhan.
