'P-p-p-pick me!'

'P-p-p-pick me!': Adorable moment penguins run up to greet photographer as he took pictures of Antarctic glacier

Imagine that you’re on vacation and trying to snap a picture of a glacier in beautiful Neko Harbor, Antarctica, but you’re interrupted by someone who wants you to photograph them instead. Ordinarily, this would be pretty obnoxious. But what if that someone was a cute penguin? It wouldn’t be annoying, it’d be adorable! This actually happened to Reddit user land_of_ice during their trip to the frozen Antarctic and resulted in some once-and-a-lifetime images. We see a special penguin spot land_of_ice from a distance and waddle towards the camera. It stops in front of the photographer and strikes a pose, clearly unafraid of human presence. The penguin stands still long enough for the Reddit user to capture several shots of the photogenic creature. This particular penguin is of the Gentoo species, and it can be easily identified by the white “bonnet” across its head. A young explorer of the Antarctic quickly went from landscape photographer to wildlife warrior during a recent trip to the South Pole. Oliver Wheeldon, 19, was lying on the snow taking a glacier shot when a penguin in the distance suddenly spotted him. Not used to seeing humans in the area, the little guy - a Gentoo penguin - became curious and decided to come up and say hello. Visitors to Antarctica are not permitted to go within five meters of penguins, however - and lucky for Wheeldon - that rule goes out the window when a penguin initiatives the interaction.
