UT Will Remove Confederate Statue

UT Will Remove Confederate Statue

The University of Texas at Austin will remove a statue of Confederate President Jefferson Davis from its grounds, after a judge denied a group’s request to stop it. The college will move it from a prominent position near one of the main campus buildings to one inside the school’s Dolph Briscoe Center for American History, where it says visitors will see it in its proper context. State District Judge Karin Crump found that the Sons of Confederate Veterans group could not sue to have the statue remain.
