During Ramadan, Muslims around the world abstain from food and drink
from sunrise until sunset.
"In
some parts of Canada, fasts during the summer months can reach 19
hours," registered dietitian Anar Allidina tells The Huffington Post
Canada. Refraining from food and drink for such a long period of time can be taxing
on even the healthiest adults, which is why Allidina says it's so
important to prepare yourself both physically and mentally for the
change.
