Colorado governor endorses civil unions bill
Gov. John Hickenlooper, D-Colo., urged for the passage of a civil unions bill while making his State of the State address this week. "As we strive to make Colorado healthier, we believe in equal rights for all regardless of race, creed, gender or sexual orientation. ... It’s time to pass civil unions," Hickenlooper said. Democratic lawmakers praised the governor for using his political capital to push the issue, but some Republicans said Hickenlooper should focus solely on jobs, not social issues.
